Image of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Safety Talk

Year 6 had a visit from Lancashire Fire and Rescue service to teach them about different aspects of keeping safe. The pupils were very knowledgeable about what to do if there was a fire in their house and could describe how to contact the emergency services. The firefighters talked about the importance of only calling 999 in an emergency as it is important that their units are available to attend real situations not hoax ones. An important message from the afternoon was making sure that they wear a helmet when riding their bikes and wear brighter, reflective clothing especially in Winter when it is darker. As the firefighters pointed out, we use phone cases and screen protectors to prevent our phones from damage, why would we not want to do the same to protect ourselves from harm!
